bir sergi sırasında sanırım barış manço vapurunun (sabahları kadıköyden beşiktaşa 7:45 veya 8:15 seferini yapan vapur, barbaros hayrettin paşa iskelesi restorasyonda iken) önünde duran bir gelindi. bana direk bir türk filmini çağrıştırdı. olay şöyle:

adamla kadın birbirini sevmektedir. fakat daha sonra bir yanlış anlaşılmadan ötürü adam, kadının kendisini aldattığını sanar ve asla affetmez kadını. kadın ne yaptıysa boştur, adam kadının yalan söylediğini düşünür hep. önceleri de bir keresinde adam sanıyorum bir başkası için "insanlar ölüme yakınken yalan söylemezler"(allahın huzurunda oldukları için) falan tarzı bir şey söylemiştir kadına(anne olabilir ölen, baba olabilir, tam hatırlamıyorum). daha sonra hiçbir şeyin fayda etmediğini gören kadın, en sonunda adamla bir uçurumun dibine gelir. "ne söyleyeceksin" der adam, kadın da "bana insanların ölüme yakınken yalan söylemeyeceğini söylemiştin, bak ben de şimdi ölüme çok yakınım, ve sana yemin ederim seni aldatmadım, hep seni sevdim" der ve kendini uçurumdan bırakır. sonrasında sanırım kadın ölmez ama hastanelik olur ve klasik türk filmi olarak mutlu sonla biter(gibi hatırlıyorum yanlış da hatırlıyo olabilirim).

tabi vapurun en önünde duran bir gelinin çağrıştırabileceği milyonlarca şey var sanırım, siz de çağrıştırın 1-2 bişeyler ve unutmayın acımasız eleştiri istiyorum

a photo taken during a public exhibition. a bride at the front of a ferry. it immediately reminded me of a turkish movie i saw when i was a very little boy. here is the deal:

a man and a woman are in love with each other. but there happens to be a misunderstanding and the man believes that she is cheating on him and refuses to ever forgive her. however hard she strives, he believes she has lied to him. before this event takes place, he quotes about somebody(somebody being his father, mother or sth like that, i don't remember exactly) to her, saying that "one who is about to die won't tell lies"(because he/she is in attandence of god). seeing that she can't persuade him that she was not cheating, at last she takes him to a cliff. when he asks what she was going to tell him, she says "you told me that people who are about to die won't ever lie, and as i am about to die, i'm not lying either. i didn't cheat on you and i love you". and then she jumps off the cliff, only to get wounded severely and than recover and live happily with his lover.


of course, a bride standing at the front of a ferry(or ship) may invoke numerous interpretations in different minds, some of which are to be written here as comments and remember, ruthless critique is allowed
